Hospital Privileges

The time-consuming credentialing work that is a necessary component of the hospital privileges application process is managed by XPRESS CREDENTIALING.

Having hospital privileges and medical credentials are essential to provide patients high-quality healthcare. Hospital privileges can only be obtained if a doctor has successfully completed the medical credentialing process. Each of these processes is intricate and lengthy, and if not managed effectively, it could result in financial liabilities or damaged reputation.

Our credentialing managers at XPRESS CREDENTIALING have years of experience and are experts in properly managing hospital privileges and medical credentials.

Hospital privileges:

What are they? Why would physician require them?

The ability to practice specific medical specializations in specific healthcare facilities is only made possible by hospital privileges. Physicians with the appropriate medical credentials and professional history may apply for privileges.

Many different kinds of hospital privileges
  • Admitting Privilege. This benefit enables doctors to admit patients into particular hospitals or healthcare facilities.
  • Surgical privilege. The surgical privilege allows doctors to conduct specific outpatient or operating room procedures.
  • Courtesy privilege. Physicians are occasionally permitted to treat and admit patients into some hospitals under the courtesy privilege.

Applying for hospital privileges

Authorizing hospital privileges is the responsibility of two organizations: the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). When processing a physician's hospital privileges, the physician's competency is taken into account. These variables were taken into consideration when processing the application.
